Close any Apps you’re not using.
Set up "Location services" to be used only when app is in use.
Change the sync and automatic update settings for your apps and device.
Disable "Background App Refresh".
Turn "Data Roaming" off.
See which apps are using the most data and try to use them while on Wi-Fi only.
Disable Wi-Fi Assist.
Don't stream unless you’re on Wi-Fi.
Fetch mail less frequently.
For specific sites or pages, download mobile apps instead of using your searching engine to browse the sites.
Set a mobile data usage warning or limit.
Manage your notifications.
Turn off auto-play feature (Some sites will load and play videos/advertisement automatically).

You can save on data consumption. For optimal savings, connect to Wi-Fi before using these data-hungry features:

Go to "Settings", on your phone.
Go to Network Connections.
Select Wi-Fi & Make sure it is ON.
A list of available Wi-Fi Connections will populate on the screen.
Select the Wi-Fi Connection you wish to use.
If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi Connection's password.
Then select "Connect."
Once connected, your phone will remember the Wi-Fi Connection and password, and can be set to automatically connect whenever you are within range.

Make sure you don’t have any pending software updates. To gain access to all the latest features, remember to keep your phone updated to the latest software version.
Your service plan needs to be Hotspot compatible.
Make sure your phone’s internet connection is working.
Make sure the Wi-Fi on the device you are trying to connect is working.
If you have a password, make sure you are using the correct one.
Disable battery saver or low power mode, in case it limits the ability of the Hotspot to connect.
